In the beginning of the nineties, you
could buy nearly every species on the bird market in Denpasar.
The usual animals were displayed in the front of the shops
and the special, rare ones in the back.
Even orang-utangs or Birds of Paradise...
We brought Nandu bird eggs and eggs of all kind of chicken breed
from Holland and hatched them.
All the animals lived freely
on our 1 hectare of land.
Later, Carin was annoyed by them
because they bred everywhere, even between the books
in the library... |
